ROYAL BABY ALERT.

Saturday was definitely the best day in London so far. I might even venture to call it.... MAGICAL.

It all began with a stroll through the Portobello Road Market. It was such a peaceful, uplifting experience to walk through happy crowds of people, listen to street musicians and eat a giant delicious crepe with Nutella. #heaven  The buildings were beautiful and there was so much to see!

When we came back to the Centre, we found out that Kate had her baby, and it was a girl! Wanting to witness the excitement, we immediately took the tube down to St. Mary's hospital, where we found a hoarde of media and a relatively small crowd gathering. The thing that surprised us was how QUIET it was. Everyone was very hushed and dignified, which is very common among the British I am learning.

We stood around for a while, taking in the experience. We didn't plan to stay long, but somehow the excitement overtook us, and things kept happening. First, Will left the hospital to go get George. We started to leave, thinking there was no way Kate would be leaving that day. But we saw Will's car coming back to the hospital, so we ran back to the crowd to witness it! (We couldn't really see though, thanks to the cameramen.)

Eventually we figured out that Kate would be coming out that night, thanks to hints like her hairstylist's visit to the hospital and the arrival of a baby carseat. We then committed for the long haul, and long haul it was (or felt like it). Cold weather, aching feet, and hunger couldn't stop us! We re-located to a great location right across and down the street from the exit, camped out on some metal barricades and waited.

When Will and Kate and new royal baby came out, it was all worth it. I can't believe I saw them with my own two eyes!! It was such an exciting moment to be a part of. You're welcome, future children and grandchildren, for suffering through the experience to give you such an awesome story someday!! ha

I desperately wanted these pink hats but I couldn't find the street vendor who was selling them :(
Shelby and I were PUMPED. And someone gave us these flags for freeeee!

standing on metal barricades was a near death experience. it was also WORTH IT.
and yes I was holding a strange man's arm so I didn't fall.

To finish this story: YES, in case you are wondering, Kate IS magical. And I love her. And Will and baby George and un-named baby Princess.  (*silent weeping*)

  1. As Dad said - it was nice to have a representative from the family there to welcome the Princess :)

I still can't get over how incredibly awesome it is that YOU WERE THERE AND SAW THE ROYAL FAMILY. Like seriously.
